Fashion Marketing and Journalism student Gabriela tells us about life at London Met

Hello, can you introduce yourself?

Hi, my name's Gabriela, I'm a second year Fashion Marketing and Journalism student, and I'm originally from Bulgaria.

What's your course like?

There are four modules in my course. My favourite one's media law. We also have assignments. Individual and group ones for all the modules.

What do you like most about studying at London Met?

I like that we, the students, have the opportunity to apply our skills in real life and also learn a lot of new technical skills. Also, we are meeting new people from all around the world, including people from the journalism industry and fashion circles.

Why did you pick the Fashion Marketing and Journalism course?

I'm interested in both marketing and journalism and when I was making my decision whether to choose one of both, I found out that London Met offers a course that combines both my interests. And in addition to this fashion. I believe that marketing makes you think in a strategic way and also enhances your skills. Journalism can obviously improve your writing skills, communication skills, and many others like photography and designing skills. Last but not least, the fashion aspect of the course benefits those who want to work in the fashion or beauty industry in the future.

What at London Met made you decide to study your course?

The location was really important to me. London Met has two campuses, one on Holloway Road, and second one in Aldgate. Both of the campuses are close to key locations in London. Also, it was really important to me to be within one hour travel from home. Both campuses have libraries, and also there is an online library where you can find some books, academic journals and more.

What's your plan once you graduate?

After I graduate, I'm considering enrolling to a Master's course. My second choice is working as an editor in a fashion or travel magazine.

What's the social life like at uni?

At London Met you can meet a lot of students from all around the world. At the beginning of every year there's a Welcome Week where you can meet a lot of new students. Also, there are some events on the Holloway Road campus in The Rocket, which happen a few times a year so you can meet new friends there as well. And of course, you can get to know your coursemates while working on group projects.
